Backpack Ministry
We started our Backpack Ministry to help children at Kingsford Heights Elementary School. When students are receiving free or reduced price lunches through programs at school, that might mean that they are getting little to no food over the weekend. Our goal is to help those children and their families not have to worry about weekend meals. Each week, we provide a backpack with food items for the family to have meals over the weekend. All of the food items are donated by church members and friends. We also receive monetary donations specifically to go towards this mission. When it's time to pack the next round of backpacks, if there are specific items we are low on or out of, we will use these monetary donations to purchase those items so we can complete the packing.

Here is a list of food items we require on a regular basis to fill backpacks:
Pancake Mix
Syrup
Peanut Butter
Jelly (plastic containers please)
Graham Crackers
Spaghetti
Spaghetti Sauce (plastic jars)
Pudding or Jello
Pop Tarts (smaller 8-count boxes)
Veggies
Canned Chicken
Pasta Sides
Cereal (smaller boxes)
Fruit
Soup/Beef Stew
Saltine or Snack Crackers
Ramen Noodles/Instant Potatoes
Tuna
Tuna Helper
Macaroni & Cheese
Applesauce

If you are interested in donating any food items, please remember that the bags we pack are being taken home (sometimes on the bus and sometimes walking) by elementary students which is why we ask for smaller boxes of items like cereal or pop tarts and plastic jars of jelly or spaghetti sauce.

If you are interested in donating any food items, please contact us for information. If you would prefer, we can also accept monetary donations mailed to the church with "Backpack Ministry" in the memo section.
